Bed Rest Motivation

A list of things to remember when you are on bed rest:

1) It is not your fault – nothing you did caused this to happen.

2) Thousands of women are placed on bed rest each year and almost all of them have been able to bring home a healthy, happy baby.

3) Parents and other loved ones will on occasion, say or do things that are insensitive.  This is not done on purpose; many people don’t understand.

4) Follow your doctors instructions verbatim; your baby needs as much time as possible to grow inside of you.

5) Bed rest is hard, emotionally challenging and absolutely heartbreaking if you have other children, but you WILL get through it.

6) If you have another child (ren), spend time reading to them in bed, snuggling, even wathcing a DVD together. At the end of the day, children only want to be loved and listened to.

7) Speak with a counsellor if you need; talking about how you feel will ease some of the frustration

8) Find a bed rest buddy. Someone who either has been through this already or someone who is currently going through it.  Check out the following link as an idea  http://community.babycenter.com/groups/a993125/bedrest_club

9) Remember that in the end, pregnancy is really like planning a wedding, it is not really important how you get there, or what the day is really like, its about the end goal, a lifelong marriage. In this situation, once your little one is born, you won’t care how long you were on bed rest or how hard it was, you will be so happy that your new little one is safe and sound.
